The PDRN Craze
In the UK skincare market, PDRN is currently the fastest-growing search term and saw a 790.3% growth spike in the U.S. across platforms like Sephora and Amazon. (1) Like most, I took notice when it hit U.S. consumer markets in 2025 promising anti-aging, wound healing and regenerative medicine applications. I knew that PDRN has been researched since the 1980’s and highly favored in Korean skincare lines. At the time I dismissed it as a rising trend, after all, all of the articles I read described salmon sperm as the source. I could not, in my lifetime, imagine myself promoting that in my practice. At the time the articles projected massive growth in our market, $1.7 billion in 2025, projected to an estimated $4.3 billion by 2033. (2) Even then, for me, it was a pass.
It wasn’t until this year that I was brought back to the discussion when Lira Clinical launched 3 new products with PDRN and formulated them specifically for wound healing and regenerative skincare in concerns to their corrective protocols.
Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) in most formulations on the market is a biological compound from a chain of DNA fragments (not actual sperm) extracted most commonly from the reproductive cells of salmon, sperm. Salmon DNA is highly compatible with human DNA and is used to stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation in the skin and assist in regenerative medicine.
That’s not to say there is no vegan options because some brands are using Ginseng (Artemisia), Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) or Damask Rose (Rosa Damascena) 100% plant derived polynucleotides for those who want a vegan option.
When Lira Clinical launched the 3 products with PDRN, my first step was to understand the ingredient deck and purpose of the product. Topical PDRN appears most promising when paired with a delivery method that allows it to reach deeper layers of skin, such as aforementioned microneedling or laser-assisted channels. So how did Lira measure up and would I recommend the products in home care? What results can I promise to you?

Lira Clinical REGEN PDRN+ Serum
This serum combines PDRN, Copper Tripeptide-1 and Lira Clinical’s introduction to the clinical market, Wild Salmon Stem Cell-CM, to deliver 4x more regenerative power than PDRN alone, delivered to calm inflammation, repair skin, and rebuild from within for lasting hydration, firmness, and visible brightening.
It’s the exo-tech, or exosomes technology in this product that helps me understand what application I would use this in the treatment room. Exosomes are microscopic messengers but they are too large to pass the skin’s barrier naturally. The most effective way to drive exosomes deeper into the skin is through in-clinic procedural delivery- microneedling, nanoneedling or radio frequency would be excellent choices.
The ingredient deck also supports the above applications in choice for delivery. Salmon Mesenchymal Cell Conditioned Media or Wild Salmon Stem Cell is a clean, sustainable, bio-tech marine cellular complexes (MCC) with 4x more regenerative power than PDRN alone. PDRN is also in the ingredient deck assisting with comprehensive tissue repair, moderates the inflammatory response, reducing redness, and prevents sporadic hyperpigmentation.
The blend of peptides they have in the formulation support the healing and results of the above in clinic applications as well. Copper Tripeptide-1 helps to improve skin firmness and elasticity, plumping skin, and helps recovery and repair. Oligopeptide-1 is a Epidermal growth factor (EGF) that assists in regeneration and barrier health. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Tetrapeptide-7 both assist in collagen production and repair, encouraging healthy cell function. Lira Clinical also added in Argireline™ & Syn®-ake, which are favorites in ingredient decks for me because for anti-aging they act like Botox without the commitment of Botox.. Both are neurotransmitter blockers helping to reduce muscle contraction frequency by up to 82%. They relax muscles but allow for natural expressions.

REGEN PDRN+ Crème
This volumizing crème assists with rebuilding visible fullness, firmness, and hydration. There is no exo-tech with this product, however the formulation in the ingredient deck favors a variety of skincare goals.
Salmon Mesenchymal Cell Conditioned Media or Wild Salmon Stem Cell, Copper Tripeptide-1, Oligopeptide-1, and PDRN are also used in this ingredient deck.
In addition to these ingredients Lira Clinical also added in Nicotiana Benthamiana Hexapeptide-40 Sh Polyp eptide-47 which is derived from the tobacco plant and promotes barrier health for compromised skin. Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate slows down the production of melanin, brightening overall skin tone. Adipofill’in™ (L-Ornithine) works to visablly plump skin, softening fine lines. Kangaroo Paw Flower Extract (Anigozanthos Flavidus Extract) assists in rebuilding the structural integrity of the dermis, while Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract gives the skin a smoothing effect.
Paired with Candela Medical’s Exceed Microneedling, and serum/creme use for 7-10 days post recovery, the results are optimal for repair, firming, toning and texture refinement. This serum and creme is not for casual home use, but in clinic use and post procedure use in my opinion.
What I have always loved about this company is they are not looking for a quick topical to launch, they are always formulating with blends of ingredients that get consistent results and as a skincare professional that makes all of the difference. I need to be able to explain what results and in what time frame my clients can expect. Afterall, skincare is an investment.
But at the current price of $262.00 for both products, let the my spa give you a week supply that’s included in the price of microneedling and advanced peels here to ensure that you heal beautifully and have those amazing results your here for.
Why I Am Loathe To Recommend Box Store PDRN
Let’s set aside the topic of low concentrations of active ingredients for maximum company profit for big box stores. For now, let’s just talk about the delivery system and why you, yes you, want to use PDRN in homecare. What are your goals?
Understand that all prior studies on PDRN have been on wound repair, tissue regeneration and cellular repair and not on anti-aging. Any claims by companies that PDRN works exclusively to assist in anti-aging is based on belief and a very small portion of studies that have just started.
Unless your goals are improved texture of the epidermis, lifting and firming by repair of the structural integrity of the dermis, repair with scars, repair of compromised barrier, or similar with in clinic visits- the science is not there yet.
What Companies Are Hiding Behind The Labels
Just because the front of the product says anti-aging with PDRN does not mean it has Salmon PDRN in it, and not all PDRN is the same. Rose, Green Tea and other formulations of PDRN give different results. Rose PDRN works to assist with skin conditioning, soothing, and glowing complexion. Green Tea PDRN works best for oily skin, and pore care. These are much different that Salmon PDRN which gives results in wound repair, skin regeneration and more.
To determine if your formula actually contains PDRN, just search its ingredient list for the term ‘sodium DNA.’ These should all include a version of DNA fragments and let you know where the PDRN is sourced from.
What results and skincare goals do you have? How fast do you want results? Because with PDRN alone in a serum or moisturizer, the results need consistent use over time. Using the products will give you a noticeable “glass skin” effect, but if your goals include anti-aging, reduced fine lines and improved elasticity the time line will be much, much longer.
Concentration matters.
Because with professional industry standards, PDRN products typically used by estheticians contain 100,000 ppm (10%) of PDRN. These ultra-concentrated formulas are designed to be highly effective. For Dermatologists, in-office, medical-grade PDRN injections (such as Rejuran Healer) provide the absolute highest concentration, typically measuring between 1,000,000 ppm and 2,000,000 ppm. These are administered directly into the dermis by a dermatologist to stimulate cellular regeneration and scar repair.
Compare this to most box store items like Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum: A top-rated K-beauty serum that combines 10,000 ppm PDRN with peptides and niacinamide for anti-aging and brightening. You are only getting a very, very small amount of active ingredient.
My conclusion is pretty much the same as last year. It’s promising. There needs to be more studies done on the results for anti-aging or other applications. It’s best used for in clinic- procedural delivery- microneedling, nanoneedling or radio frequency.
For now, I will use the two Lira Clinical products in clinic and provide them for client homecare in certain services.
